When I was about 12 years old, my year group was invited to read during assembly. It was a very nerve wracking experience! The passage I chose to read (and I can’t remember what drew me to it at the time) was this incredibly beautiful, powerful poem.

“One night I dreamed a dream.

As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.

Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.

For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,

One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me,

I looked back at the footprints in the sand.

I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,

especially at the very lowest and saddest times,

there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.

“Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,

You’d walk with me all the way.

But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,

there was only one set of footprints.

I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”

He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you

Never, ever, during your trials and testings.

When you saw only one set of footprints,

It was then that I carried you.”

Whether you are religious or not, the image of being ‘carried’ through the tricky times in life is something I imagine we can all relate to. This struck a chord with me and sowed a seed that has continued to grow throughout my life.

I don’t believe in carrying my clients, but I do believe there are times in our lives when it is beneficial and wise to work with someone other than friends, family or colleagues.

I typically work with clients on the following aspects of their lives:

  • Career
  • Relationships
  • Physical and emotional well being
  • Motivation
  • Improving self esteem
  • Developing emotional intelligence
  • Boosting happiness

I have a number of psychological tools that I use to help inform and expedite the coaching process, these include:

  • Insights Discovery (personality profiling)
  • Motivational Maps
  • Strengths Finder
  • Values & Needs Indicators
  • In depth Pre & Post Coaching Questionnaires

I also use a wide range of exercises developed and inspired by years of experience, all designed to help my clients gain a deeper and clearer insight into themselves, other people and the aspect of their life they are looking to improve

Coaching is a very forward looking, action orientated process. When you enter into a coaching relationship with me you can expect to receive a powerful combination of unconditional support, intuitive listening, challenge and questioning, and above all honesty.  Using this combination of skills we will get to the bottom of what’s going on quickly, and get you on the path to something better.
